IMPORTANT RESTRICTIONS TO NOTE
In a measure to protect Botswana's wildlife and livestock from foot and mouth disease, all people driving around Botswana will be required to walk over specially disinfected cloths at the veterinary gates.
Vehicle tyres will also be sprayed. This will not harm any footwear but will go a long way to protecting our wildlife and we appreciate your co-operation.
This process might also be carried out when flying in and out of Maun/Kasane airport.
- Raw or cooked beef will be confiscated at various check points in Botswana, especially from North to South
- Fresh food, meat, biltong, eggs, dairy products is generally not allowed into Botswana from Namibia

Maun to Khwai = 100km - (+ 3 hours - through Moremi National Park).
Maun to Savuti = 176km - (+ 5 hours - up through Moremi and Chobe National Park)
Maun to Kasane = 306km - (+ 6 hours on a main tar road)
Khwai to Savuti = 77km - (+ 3-4 hours on a thick sand road)
Savuti to Kasane = 145km - (+ 5-6 hours partial thick sand road, then gravel & then tar)
Nata to Maun = 300km - (+ 3 hours)
Johannesburg to Maun = 1295km - (+ 12-14 hours tar road - stick to speed limit)
Francistown to Maun = 486km
Francistown to Nata = 180km
Selebi-Phikwe to Francistown - 134km
